Featuring the glamour and thrills of both today’s and yesterday’s movies, theatre, music and television. Be a star center stage for a day with some of the biggest screen names in animation. Explore one-of-a-kind attractions. Dare to enter The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and see the magic behind Disney Animation. Take a stroll down Sunset Boulevard and indulge in a plethora of upscale venues, shops, memorabilia, and street performances. And now you can step into the boundless imagination of a child at Toy Story Land! In any of the Disney parks, live entertainment has always been a part of the fun and magic of the particular land you are visiting. It is no different at Hollywood Studios, with various character guests showing up on the street in costume performing some small feat, or just hanging around giving out autographs to the visitors and taking pictures with their favorite small frys. Some of the current characters include JoJo’s Circus, Kim Possible, Bolt, Little Einsteins or Ratatouille. Occasionally cover groups or a cappella quartets will perform in the shows held throughout the area, or along the streets. Often all these folks will take part in the parades that are held throughout the day to the enjoyment of all the crowds attending.
Upon entering the park, you are on Hollywood Boulevard, lined with wonderful venues; selling merchandise, ice cream, coffee, and other snacks. Live entertainment is found here all through the day and is very similar to Main Street, USA in Disney World; but with studios and entertainment entwined. Here you will be able to view many of the hand and foot prints of many great stars in the cement walkways. Seated inside the dark theater, you review scenes from many of the great movies. The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame Plaza is located along the boulevard; with busts and icons of movie greatest in the television era, including Oprah Winfrey and Walt Disney.
Off towards the left is Echo Lake, a small oval shaped lagoon; which was the left ear of Mickey if you could fly overhead and notice it; with many attractions, services and architecturally designed buildings of the movie era of the 30s and 40s in the original Hollywood. The attractions here are: Star Tours, motion simulator in the Star Wars world; Star Wars: Jedi Training Academy, where the kids will actually get the chance to become padawan learners of the light saber training; Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, showing visitors how the scenes are created and showing some of the best; and For the First Time in Forever: A “Frozen” Sing-Along Celebration.
On Grand Avenue you will find: Muppet*Vision 3D, starring your favorite muppets; the 3 fantastic dining venues of PizzeRizzo, Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, and the Baseline Tap House. At Commissary Lane you can see Mickey all dressed up as the Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Minnie Mouse in her red carpet couture in Mickey and Minnie Starring in Red Carpet Dreams!
Animation Courtyard, where the studio arch is, is home to: Walt Disney Presents which is a kind of museum about the man that started it all with models, artifacts and pictures depicting the life of Walt. Disney Junior – Live on Stage! A live show with characters from the Disney Channel; Star Wars Launch Bay -View movie props, screen videos, shop for Skywalker Wine and collective merchandise and greet Star Wars heroes and villains; The Voyage of The Little Mermaid – Celebrate the highlights of “The Little Mermaid” in this live show.
Pixar Place With a number of film studios that were originally used in the production of many shows; and is a replica of the studios in California. Toy Story Midway Mania involves 3D action related to various carnival games using the favorite characters of the Toy Story film.
The first major increase to the studio area was the great Sunset Boulevard with some really great rides; including: Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage, Rock n Roller Coaster with Aerosmith, with a high speed ride reaching up to 60 mph and a jump start that will thrill you; The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, this awesome ride takes you to the top of the building where you will board an elevator that drops you fast; according to different aspects, which happens 4 times to give you a stomach, heart dropping experience that will definitely excite you and Fantasmic!, a beautiful blending of lasers, lights and water effects held in the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster: As one of Disney’s signature rides, Aerosmith Rock ‘n’ Roller will take you to a new level in high-speed coasters. Teamed with one of America’s most thrilling bands, join Aerosmith on his way to his next concert. Join Aerosmith during a studio recording hosted by G-force records, As you wind through the queue, Aerosmith is just finishing his last song. Guess what, your invited to travel with Aerosmith to the rock concert right now. As his invited guest, his 24-seat high-speed limo is waiting just outside the studio. Neon signs warn passengers, heads back, all roads jammed, count down 4,3,2,1 bam! Get ready for the adrenaline rush of your life, 0-60 in 2.8s, Wow! Hold on for an inversion, corkscrew inversion, loops, bank and twists. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror: Once a glamorous hotel, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror has long been abandoned due to paranormal phenomenon. With a charred facade, cobweb-infested lobby, and broken-down elevators, today your checking into the Twilight Zone. Rumor has it, that back in 1939, a family on vacationing at the hotel simply disappeared without a trace. Since then, there has been sightings of their ghosts traveling the hallways. Continued blood-curdling screens pervade the broken walls on the elevator shafts. As you enter the front lobby, you discern something is wrong. French bronzes paintings, photo play magazines on the front desk, everything in the same place it was back in 1939. As your led to the library, take a quick glance at the top shelves, you may see some props from the original Twilight Zone. Dare to take the elevator up to the 13th floor, it may be your last trip!
