The Temple Owls hail from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The school program has existed since 1894 and has a modest record of four hundred and seven wins, five hundred and forty-three losses, and fifty-two ties. They've been to three bowl games to date, winning the Garden State Bowl and have promoted a single All-American Player, Paul Palmer of 1986. They play on Lincoln Financial Field in front of up to sixty-nine thousand spectators. The team, part of the Mid-American Conference's East Division, was originally a night school, before becoming a college, and that's how the Night Owl mascot was chosen so quickly at the beginning of the school's athletic debut. The Temple Owls have rivalries with Penn State Nittany, the Lions, the Pittsburgh Panthers, Buffalo Bulls, and Villanova Wildcats. A rivalry is an agreement between universities to play a certain amount of games at their respective home stadiums per stadium together. Some rivalries happen naturally, while most are official or organized within conferences to guarantee a set amount of games per year between the schools. Under former coach Wayne Hardin, the school had the longest Division I-A winning streak in the NCAA at the time with 14 games over two seasons.
