Northern Illinois University's Huskies are members of the Mid-American Conference West Division. Their home games are played at Huskie Stadium in Dekalb, Illinois since 1964 to crowds about twenty-four thousand spectators strong. They have a respectable .521 win percentage compiled from four hundred and eighty-six wins, four hundred, forty-five losses, and fifty ties. They have a lackluster postseason bowl career however with only three wins out of their ten bowl invitations. They do have nine conference titles though with one division title as well. Jerry Kill is the team's current head coach of the last three years. He has collected thirteen wins and twelve losses to date at the school almost matching the school's overall win percentage of .521 all-time. The Huskies hold a unique distinction for, going into the 2008 season by producing one thousand yard rushers for their previous nine seasons. For that period, also known as the Joe Novak Era, the head coach turned the team's unimpressive performance in the late nineties into seven consecutive winning seasons. The tension was highest in the 2002 season when the team started one and three and then pulled back to win seven consecutive games in the season only having the chain broken at the championship game against rival Toledo in a very close three point difference finish.
