Quite likely the most powerful force in college football to date, the Alabama Crimson Tide of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, has won an astounding thirteen national titles. The team has been continually dominate for almost all of their seasons and boasts a .707 all-time win ratio with their seven hundred and ninety-two wins, three hundred and sixteen losses, and forty-three ties. Their postseason bowl record is also highly respectable with thirty one wins, twenty two losses, and three ties in bowl games. They have also advanced one Heisman trophy winner and forty-four Consensus All-Americans. They currently hold twenty-six conference titles, with twenty-two being part of the Southeastern Conference.

The team had a rocky beginning like all new teams in the 1890's, but as of the 1922 season, the team was established and on a powerful rise to the top. Until Whitworth took over as head coach in 1954, the team would routinely score high and often in games with a final tally under Harold Drew coming to fifty-four wins, twenty-eight losses, and seven ties. When Whitworth took the reins, that excellent record instantly became four wins, twenty four losses, and two ties before he was eventually fired. This is known to be the darkest three years in Crimson Tide history, but they were eclipsed by the turnaround of new Head Coach Paul Bryant. On the back of the previous failing seasons, Bryant's years as head coach were an example for Alabama Football Standards with his eventual two hundred and thirty-two wins, miniscule forty-six losses, and nine ties. While at the college he notched thirteen Southeastern Conference titles and eleven bowl victories. For twenty-four years of his stay, the team went to every bowl appearance.
